How to get your DNS’s IP address in Mac OS X - Updated: 5/12/03; 12:25:04 AM.
After posting this to Versiontracker, I figured that there should be a permanent link to this info somewhere.
Here we go…
To get your DNS server’s IP address in OS X, go into terminal app and type
nslookup www.apple.com
(actually any host with a DNS entry will do, but a commonly cached should be faster i.e. www.apple.com)
The second line of the response will say
Address: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
This is your DNS’s IP address (obviously substitute the XXXs with the actual numbers you see).
