Dogs - self aware?

Are dogs aware of their own appearance? Every dog I’ve put in front of a mirror showed no interest in their own reflection. Do domesticated dogs think they’re human in appearance? Certainly they know what other dogs look like. Do dogs think they’re beter than other dogs that "look like" dogs.

Wired News: Bad Movie Hurts Jedi Down Under

Bad Movie Hurts Jedi Down Under
The latest Stars Wars installment has dealt a considerable blow to the once-popular Jedi religion, which has quasi-official status in Australia and New Zealand. Stewart Taggart reports from Sydney. [Wired News]

Hey Jedi Religion people, I’ve got a little secret for you. IT’S A FUCKING MOVIE, Get over it! Perhaps this story would have less significance if all the followers were 12 or 13 years old.

Ease into the Switch (OS X that is)

Ease into the Switch
When new users come to the Mac platform, they bring fresh eyes and sometimes keen observations, which are useful for all of us. Here, recent switcher Michael Brewer offers a bucket-full of useful Mac OS X tips that he put together the old-fashioned way. [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service]

This link should be given to every new OS X user regardless of wether or not they came from Windows or OS 9. After reading this essay, I now "get" the new command-tab switching in Jaugar.

Cool NetNewsWire blogging feature

Extremely Hip feature in NetNewsWire. I’m not sure when Brent added this but it’s very close to what I’ve been looking for in an RSS reader application. Now the contextual menu allows you to copy the HTML of the post you’re reading with attribution to the source, ready to be pasted into a blog editor. I used this feature to post about the NetNewsWire b21 update earlier today.

I’d love to see a "Post with attribution in Radio" item added to this menu as well.

NetNewsWire Lite 1.0b21 released

NetNewsWire Lite 1.0b21
This beta adds a few new features and fixes bugs—most especially the bug where you couldn’t mark the current headline as unread. Now you can. [ranchero.com]

If Brent updates this application any more frequently, I’m gonna have to write an applescript to delete the old version and copy the new one from the mounted disk image to the Applications folder!
Note: This is an observation, not a complaint.

I’ve got a Powermate now

I stopped by the Apple Store on the way home. I couldn’t help but pick up a powermate a kind of "underground" geek-hip USB toy. Vesion 1.1.2 drivers are available for Jaguar.

The Apple "Genius" was able to check the special Apple Employee Knowledgebase for the Rendezvous iTunes issue. Aparently the version of iTunes that supports Rendezvous will be out … shortly.
