iPod 1.2: About the Clock

AppleCare Document: 61692: Titled "iPod 1.2: About the Clock" answers the question that kept dozens of iPod users up at night. Why doesn’t the iPod’s clock sync the times with my Mac’s when I connect it to my Mac? A: It does in OS X 10.2. Actually (according to the artcle) you don’t even need to have iTunes running for the iPod’s clock to sync with your Mac’s, It’s automactic. I’ll put this featue to the test after I updated to 10.2.

Ripping tips

Hint of the day: When ripping CDs to mp3, it’s almost always good idea to give the business side of the plastic platter a good wipe. Smudges can cause the data to be read incorrectly which may turn into crackles, chirps and other non musical artifacts in the resulting mp3 files. One more thing, CDs are read from the inside out (center to edge) so the data you’re trying to extract is in the middle of the disc — concentrate on cleaining this area of the CD.

OS X Security Updates

If you’re running 10.1 there’s a security update from 8-20, if your running 10.2 (a.k.a. Jaguar), there’s a security update from 8-23. The System prefs panel will take you to the right place.
