I got a tick bite yerterday, the episode kinda freaked me out. At this point I need to either wait for a rash to appear or get tested in six weeks. Not fun.

Print Center is a many splendored thing
Print Center Repair 2.0 for Mac OS X 10.2 is out. Print Center Repair is a magical utility which can fix printing problems. When Arthur C. Clarke said that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, he was talking about Print Center Repair. (248 words) [dive into mark]
In an effort to clean-up my living space I got together ten years worth of old paperwork and readied it for the trash. The problem? I didn’t want to put old bank and utility records in the trash in an "unencrypted" form. I wen’t out and bought myself what anyone who’s trying to avoid identy theft buys, a paper shreder. A $12.99 special that takes up to nine pages at once. Needless to say, I did a several small shreading sessions over the corse of a week rather than go "all day" to get it done at one Fawn Hall inspired sitting.
Well, tonight I finished. Actually I only thought I finished, but then I found one more pile of old receipts and ATM slips in the corner. I was gonna blindly chuck them into the machine’s mouth as fast as possible, but I figured I’d give a few of the slips a quick look before I sent them south. Lucky me, a quick sift through the dead-tree rubble yielded the following: 1) A crisp 1995 Two Dollar Bill, 2) a check dated Nov. 1, 1999 (that expired after 120 days) from my insurance company for the whopping sum of $2.20, and 3) an American Express Gift Cheque for $25 (this time with no expiration date). I think of this last small discovery as a touch of monetary karma for taking care of my old paper the "correct" way.
Macs to boot OS X only in January 2003 [MacNN]
That’s right folks, if you’re in an OS 9 workflow and don’t see yourself switching it to OS X any time in the near future, a Dual 1.25GHz machine is the best you’re gonna get, ‘cause what’s comming out in January ain’t goona run OS9!
Sone Mac-heavy industries (Audio Recording and Print Publishing to name a couple) are not ready for the transition as some of the bread & butter apps (Pro Tools, XPress) have yet to get firm release dates on Carbonized/Cocoa-ized versions from their Developers (Digidesign and Quark).
Even free, iCal isn’t worth the price
RandomMaccess: “Apple’s newly released iCal is the most beautiful calendaring program I have ever seen. It’s a shame it sucks.” [ranchero.com]
I couldn’t agree more. I don’t use Apple’s address book app. and iCal was operating so sloth-like on my 400MHz Pismo, I didn’t have the patience to find the horrible UI and bug described. Oh well, I guess I won’t be using iSync either.
Desktop weblog editor
Over the years I’ve grown tired of editing my weblogs in a browser. The browser interface is just too slow and too poor. [inessential.com]
This is exacly what I’m looking for!
The Interstate driving HOWTO
It has come to my attention over the 45,000 km (~28,000 mi) that I’ve driven over the last several months1, that most people can’t handle driving on the Interstate. I sincerely hope that this essay will remedy the problem. [Kuro5hin.org]
