Do you have folders on you OS X dock? If you’re like me (my dock has Applications, Home and Music folders), you use those folders to deposit files and folders quickly and (somewhat) easily. The problem? When dragging anything near the dock the dock procedes to "make room for" the stuff you dragging because it thinks you want them on the dock. A touch of the command key while your dragging will prevent this. Try it yourself. This also prevent the "oops, I accidently dragged 32 things to the dock instead of into the dock’d folder and now I’ve got to remove them from the dock one by one" syndrome.
