Non-specific November 30th update

I’ve resisted posting for the last few weeks ‘cause I’ve been converting the content of this Radio Userland site to a Movable Type managed site for a few weeks now. I’m almost done. FWIW — Radio Userland does not make it easy to move to a different management system.

FYI — Adobe Illustrator CS does indeed let you save files down to previous versions. However, when you do so, most of your text blocks will be broken up in smaller text fragments. This I assume is due to the fact the new text rendering engine (the one it now shares with InDesign) is completely incompatible with older versions of Illustrator (and the older file formats). I guess you need to give up some things to move forward, but I find it difficult to believe that Adobe couldn’t have found a better way around this.

  • Thanks for this info on saving down in Illustrator. We’ve just upgraded and I was sweating the aparent inability to save to lower versions when we need to.
