iBook Logic Board problems again

Yes, it’s been a while. I figured I’d better write something before my iBook goes on the blink again (literally). That’s right my iBook is exhibiting the video blinking symptoms that just scream “Replace my Logic Boardagain. I haven’t even done the 10.4 Tiger thing to this machine ‘cause I just have to many things tricked out in the OS for web development (which reminds me that I’ll have to post my OSX virtual hosts setup here soon). I’ll just have to do another Carbon Copy Clone and get it over with.

I’m collecting Apple iBook logic board problems — having had three of them replaced in my iBook G4. Kindly let me know at: SteveJobsBio@yahoo.com

  • i have a similar problem w/ myi-book g4 800mhz

  • My computer is only 2 weeks over warranty and they refuse to cover $1100.00 CAD cost for replacing logic board.

  • Wow debbie, I don’t know the circumstances, but that’s really bad news. Good luck getting it fixed economically.

  • My husband and I have just “lost” our 6th iBook logic board (2 iBooks, 6 logic boards), 13 months since Apple’s last replacement (“sorry, we only cover our crappy faulty replacement of another crappy faulty replacement of another crappy original for 12 months”). They want $700 to give me another crappy faulty replacement.

I’m thinking of smashing the remains of the iBook on the sidewalk outside the Mac store (maybe mid-afternoon on Black Friday?)…anyone want to come watch??? Do you think I could take up a collection at the event, a fund to replace my computer with something that doesn’t break routinely?

  • Good News…Update
I could not get Apple to listen to reason regarding the logic board however the tech guy at the Mac store in TOronto managed to get them to cover the warranty.I would definitely buy another computer from that store as they really work hard for their customers.
