Dramagods show at House of Blues

Dramagods Live

I’ve gotten a few hits from google with Dramagods as a search query. So I figured that I should do a quick show report.

The band went on promptly, around 8:20ish and played for approximately 75 minutes. They did not have a lot of space on stage (opening up for Disturbed), there were a few technical things going on but, overall it was a strong performance. The audience was very receptive the new songs.

Here’s the set list to the best of my recollection:
Nice to meet you (solo section was extended)
Megaton
S’Ok
Interface
Fearless Leader
Midnight Express
No regrets
Lockdown
Pilots
Exit

iPodDisk!

iPodDisk Somehow I missed iPodDisk. This unbelievably useful app was released back in November and will most likely replace Senuti in my iPod toolbox. iPodDisk mounts your iPod right on your Desktop as a read-only shared volume not unlike an iDisk. This volume contains two folders “Artists” and “Playlists” which correspond to the Artists and Playlists on your iPod. Now you’re free to do whatever you want with the mp3/mp4 files inside those folders (except remove them, it’s read-only remember?). This would be tremendously helpful if you lost your iTunes library and the only back of your music was on your iPod.

iPodDisk Mounted

I now keep dmg installers of both Senuti and iPodDisk on my iPod [which is set to ‘Enable disk use’ in iTunes Prefs] for those occasions when I need to get at the actual mp3 files on my ‘Pod.

Closed Is Open

Once again John Gruber has done an excellent job providing “translation services” of corporate PR. This time in Closed Is Open he decodes The Microsoft’s Digital Music Service Q&A.

Getting ready for Summer NAMM

I’m on my way to Nashville today. The NAMM show starts on Friday. Before that I’ve got a presentation, booth setup and a few meetings with the media. If all goes well I’ll make it to the Todd Rundgren show tonight. I’d have liked to made it to Macworld CreativePro, but logistically I can’t do both shows in the same calendar year. I’ll post if there’s any relevant news at the show.

Making Music is worth a listen

Making Music is an online Musical Instrument Encyclopedia, providing a description, an image and a sound clip per instrument. If you play music for are a music enthusiast this download is worth checking out.

Post NAMM Report

NAMM, what can I say, the show physically kicks my ass every year. But getting to hang with old friends and meet new ones in this enviornment is one of my favorite things to do each year.

This being my 17th or 18th show, makes me kinda jaded as far as what I expect to see at the show floor, but every once in a while something happens that blows me away. This year we had Brent Carter (a great vocalist) demoing mics in a specially made vocal booth. At 4:00 on the last day of the show, Stevie Wonder was walking the show floor (he does this quite often), but this year one of his longtime friends asked him if he’d like to sing in Samson’s vocal booth an listen to our new mics. He accepted and for 20 minutes there was pure magic at the booth. Every headphone (32 in all) was being used and at that moment there were more faces pressed against the vocal room glass than we had had all weekend combined. Stevie was simply amazing.

Roxio to acquire Napster assests

Roxio to acquire Napster assests [via MacMinute.com: ]

Wow, somehow I missed this one yesterday. 5.3 mil, I don’t get it, what is Roxio (the makers of the fabulous Toast along with many other things) going to do with the assets?. Is the name worth that much, is the software still vaiable, would you wan’t to own a cyber-ghosttown?
